What He Left Behind

Rory is between two worlds when she arrives at Penn Station, to meet the father she never knew. But it is another mysterious man, not her father, who captures Rory's attention in New York. Santo is dark-eyed, dark-haired, quiet and charming. His hands are stained by dark colors—a trick of his trade, Rory soon learns. Santo is one of many artists Rory meets at the gallery her father and his girlfriend own—street artists and sculptors and painters and filmmakers—artists whose worldly opinions and seductive lives quickly become Rory's world. Santo is a street artist, whose late night painting stands for something much different than the others. Through Santo Rory learns what it means to be invisible, illegal, and in love.
