Red Rain Ricky Pine

Description

"There are two kinds of people who sit around thinking about how to kill other people: psychopaths and mystery writers."
-Richard Castle

"Don't make promises you can't keep, Mr. Parker."
"Yeah, but those are the best kind."
-The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Heaven and Hell aren't above or below Earth. If you want to find them, you should be looking sideways.

Teenage angel Alex Snow has a very weird life - his twin brother Gabe is a demon, he has few friends, he doesn't get out much, his tastes in pop culture are quirky at best...and one of his classmates has just been horribly murdered. Soon, more dead bodies start to pop up in town, and Alex and Gabe discover that the killer is someone to whom they are inextricably connected, despite having never met.

(First in the Red Rain Series. Cover designed by Sam Ayers.)

So sorry about my original comment. Let's try this again. I love all of the pop culture references and the ending is great, as well as how well the relationships fit together. A little more description would be great but I can't wait to read the next book. Again, so sorry about my original comment.

It's okay, your original comment was no less valid. But thanks for editing it anyway. :)

Thanks for reading! I just hope nobody who hasn't finished the book reads your comment and gets spoiled, though...

I really enjoyed this story. I like the idea that angels and demons are just like regular people. And I applaud the diversity in this book! There's some internal dialogues that I feel could be edited. For example, I really don't need to know the exact amount of months until Alex's next phone upgrade. I feel like it's a detail that doesn't really add to the story or the character development. Other than that it was well written. It has mystery and intrigue, plot twists, great humor, and even some tears (or a lot of tears). And of course, I loved all the literary references. I definitely geeked out a bit :)

About the details, you're right, I'm always trying to cut those down when I edit. (My last round of edits brought my word count down by about a thousand for that reason, I think.) But there's always some things I miss. But hey, at least I got you to geek out, so on that front, I've succeeded! Thanks for reading! :D

I'm not pasting it here. There's 450 words and maybe half of it is relevant. The main thing is I love it, and once it's published I'm going straight out and buying it.

Oh my God, what an amazing review! Thanks so much! I'll be sure to share it...although it's now very late for me, but I promise I'll do it in the morning!

Oh, and yes, Alex's ringtone is "New Born," but I decided not to name-drop it in the new draft. For some reason it felt a little off to me, so I decided to kill that particular darling. (Though I may just resurrect it one of these days...)

I've only just begun reading ands it's definitely intriguing. First off, the opening line is awesome! I'm big on opening lines, and yours definitely hooks you in. Can't wait to hear more about this demon brother, and why Alex is afflicted with sleepwalking. Happy Halloween! Will hopefully read more tonight :)

Perfect timing with your reading, especially since the first big twist (hint, hint: Chapter 5) happens on Halloween. :D

Glad you like it so far! As for that opening line, that's maybe the third different one I've done, and it's gotten the most positive feedback. I'm not losing it, no way no how. And I bet you'll love Gabe when you really get to meet him. Everyone does. :D
