Amulet Niki Craig

Cassandra "Cassie" Bristow has made it to her senior year. Finally being permitted to go to a public school (as opposed to her home schooling for years), Cassie is ready to live as a normal teenager. At first, she thinks she's got it; she makes new friends, figures out her class schedule with ease, and even catches the eye of Christopher Lyons, the star of the football team. But when a mysterious new girl named Jessica shows instant interest in her, Cassie wonders if she's as normal as she thinks. She swears she knows Jessica from somewhere, even if she can't remember. And so doesn't Christopher. The two hold a dark secret about Cassie that will change her world and force her to make a choice. But when a shadow from Christopher's past arrives, Cassie realizes she could end up destroying the world. And all it would take is one wrong move.

It was pretty good. I like that the author added a bit of a twist with an object (the amulet), and didn't really get preachy like some paranormal angels and demons books do. Loved the humor in the book as well. Anytime Christopher said something, majority of the time I was laughing or saying "aw." There were a few grammatical errors, but that sometimes happens with writing, so it wasn't annoying or anything. Once past the middle of the book, everything seemed to be rushed - there could have been a tad bit more in the book. Overall though, it was a great read.

With the humor and innuendos between Christopher and Cassie, it kind of reminded me of Velvet, by Temple West. The two main characters, Adrian and Caitlin, with their interactions with one another, it reminded me of the Amulet and the Amulet reminded me of Velvet. =)

So far, I'm really enjoying it. The writer has definitely gotten me extremely curious about what exactly kind of paranormal arc she'll go for. She even got a few girly giggles from me, especially when Christopher straight up was blunt about Cassie's looks. So unapologetic. Loved it.

Would love to see how everything pans out. Did Samuel change? What happens with Christopher and Jessica?

This was mindblowing, and I couldnt stop reading.
