Amazons

Description

With the discovery that Hercules intends to humiliate their Queen, the sister Amazons of their unique, hermit kingdom must decide whether they will maintain their peaceful separatism or finally strike out for revenge. From each of their respective cultures, Hyppolite, the Ethiopian Queen; Orithyia, the Celtic farmer; Antiope, the Athenian scientist; and Penthesilia, the Chinese warrior, have come together in a bid for true freedom. But the important questions, how to fight misogyny and whether men are the true enemy, leave the sisters at an important intersection, one that cannot be crossed with platitudes of girl power. Anchored by the plot of the Greek myth, this story reminds readers that the battle of the sexes is as old as ancient history.
