Swooning over Swoon Reads at BEA

Hey Swoon Readers,

We definitely had a Swoonworthy BEA/Book Con this year!

First, Jean Feiwel was on an incredibly informative panel about Sourcing the Crowd with Liz Pelletier of Entangled and Molly O’Neill from Storybird. She said very nice things about Swoon Reads and all of you! And, as an added bonus, we learned about a few things that we’re going to have to look into… :-)

Then, Sandy Hall completely rocked her both her signings for A LITTLE SOMETHING DIFFERENT! She signed over two hundred Advanced Reader Editions of A LITTLE SOMETHING DIFFERENT, and we still ended up having to turn people away!

Here she is hanging out in the Author’s Green Room with Allison V.:

Just before we came out to discover the first of her TWO amazing signing lines:

She was a natural, and took a second to chat with every person who came up, and all of her signed books include a squirrel pun. My favorite was “Squirrel Power!”

I just wish I’d gotten a good picture of her Teen Librarian Posse!

Then, on Saturday, we brought some serious Swoon to the Book Con crowds!

Seriously, there were a LOT of book lover’s here and we were so excited to see that the majority of them were teens!

We started off the day with a YA Editors Pick Panel, where Swoon Reads editor Holly West talked about the editing process, Swoon Reads, and working on A LITTLE SOMETHING DIFFERENT to a sold out crowd. Bonus shout-out to moderator Jennifer E. who pointed out how fans of Rainbow Rowell (whose editor Sarah Goodman was also on the panel) would love A LITTLE SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

Then, it was time for our big 10-Word Love Story party! We had a great turnout!

And a big thank you to all of you who submitted a love story online, and at our booth during the fair! We had a whole wall and a half filled with fabulous 10-Word Love stories, which people were able to vote on. Here’s a great picture of our two winners with their Swoon Reads prizes:

While people were voting, Kathryn L. challenged the crowd with some YA Trivia and then led a Swoonba session for some brave volunteers, including our own Jean Feiwel. (We have a video evidence of this on Instagram!)

Don’t they look like they are having fun? And even better, we thanked them all with a free ARE each!

And, finally, here we are celebrating after the big event in front of our giant wall of love stories:
