Swoon Spotlight: Teresa F. — YA Romance
As part of our ongoing effort to give you a glimpse behind the scenes of publishing, we have a new feature on our blog: Swoon Spotlight! Every week we’re going to introduce you to a Swoon Reads staff member, who has volunteered their time, energy, and enthusiasm to the imprint—while still being amazing at their regular jobs! This week we are featuring Teresa F. Check back every day at 2pm to learn more about Teresa, her job, and her thoughts on life in publishing.
It’s such a unique and fresh idea for finding new voices in the YA romance genre and I really loved the community aspect of the website.
What do you like most about working with books for young adults?
I’ve always been an avid reader of young adult fiction, so it’s pretty great to be able to work directly with the types of books that appeal to me the most.
Contemporary YA. I’m a sucker for emotional, realistic stories that usually rip your heart out, but in the best way. Rainbow Rowell has been a particular favorite of mine lately.
What’s the first romance you ever read?
This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen. It isn’t a super romantic story in the traditional sense, but the love story between Remy and Dexter was one of the most believable and heartfelt portrayals of a relationship that I had read up until that point. It’s still one of my favorites to this day.
