Swoon Spotlight: Teresa F. — Thoughts on Publishing
As part of our ongoing effort to give you a glimpse behind the scenes of publishing, we have a new feature on our blog: Swoon Spotlight! Every week we’re going to introduce you to a Swoon Reads staff member, who has volunteered their time, energy, and enthusiasm to the imprint—while still being amazing at their regular jobs! This week we are featuring Teresa F. Check back every day at 2pm to learn more about Teresa, her job, and her thoughts on life in publishing.
Common misconceptions about book publishing.
I don’t think most people outside of the publishing world realize just how many departments work to not only create a book, but then help it find a space for itself in the marketplace. Editorial, design, marketing, sales, production, publicity… they are all integral parts of what it takes to make a book successful.
If you could have any other job in book publishing for one day, what would it be?
It would be fun to work in either editorial or design for a day.
Funniest way you’ve heard a friend or family member describe your job?
I still think that the majority of my family thinks that I spend my time at work reading all day when this could not be any further from the truth.
