Swoon Spotlight: Kate J. — YA Romance
As part of our ongoing effort to give you a glimpse behind the scenes of publishing, we have a new feature on our blog: Swoon Spotlight! Every week we’re going to introduce you to a Swoon Reads staff member, who has volunteered their time, energy, and enthusiasm to the imprint—while still being amazing at their regular jobs! This week we are featuring Kate J. Check back every day at 2pm to learn more about Kate, her job, and her thoughts on life in publishing.
It’s such an interesting publishing model. Plus, I’m always a sucker for a love story.
What do you like most about working with books for young adults?
I love the real, honest emotion in books for teens and the lack of pretension or artifice.
What’s your favorite genre of romance?
Historical—any time period, really.
What’s the first romance you ever read?
In the sixth grade I read Time Enough for Drums by Ann Rinaldi. It’s the first book I remember swooning for.
