Swoon Author L.E. DeLano: Oh, How Far We've Come, My Book and Me
I am a published author.
Excuse me as I take a moment and just let that sink into my skin and seep into my bones because it feels that good. Oh yes, it does.
And of course, this has been an amazing journey from the time I submitted Traveler to Swoon Reads to this, the penultimate moment: My book is in bookstores. My picture is inside the back cover. I’m having a launch party. Doing blog tours and podcasts.
As amazing as all of that is (let me tell you, it’s pretty amazing), I’m even more amazed by the journey my book took to get there.
I started this story with a seed that grew into a tangled overgrowth that I weeded and mulched and watered and fertilized. Then it got pruned and shaped and planted into better soil and finally it bloomed into this wonderful, heartfelt, adventurously fun story that swept me away and landed me here.
So today, I’d like to share another aesthetic.
This one is about the wild and beautiful creature that I’ve turned out into the world—or in this case, into multiple worlds. There’s a little piece of each one on here, and I love what they’ve all become.
They’ve changed me.
I think that’s the price of being a writer. Every book should change you, and this one left its mark. I hope it does the same for all of you.
