Swoon Author Danika Stone: The Key Parts of a Book Trailer (And the INTERNET FAMOUS Trailer Reveal!)
With Internet Famous mere WEEKS away from release, I’ve been thinking a lot about the different promotions authors use to get the message out about their books. Book tours and signings aside, the internet is one of the best places to promote. And since one of the key elements of online book promos is the book trailer, I thought I’d share my favorite parts of the Internet Famous vid!
A book trailer is a tricky balance of show and tell. You want enough hints at the story to get someone to read the book, but you don’t want to tell them so much they have no reason to read. I happen to love book trailers… if they’re done right. And for Internet Famous there were a three key elements I wanted the trailer to have.
1. Actors who fit the characters to a “T”… while leaving room for readers to imagine their own versions of Madi and Laurent. As soon as I saw these two actors, I knew they were the ones. I love them in these roles!
2. A trailer also needs an efficient summary of the plot. There’s no way to get the WHOLE story in 30 seconds, but key points need to be included. These scenes do just that!
also rely on audio and video to capture the essence of the story. Since Internet Famous is all about online
drama, I wanted viewers to "see" that. I absolutely LOVE the After Effects
imagery in this scene. It just works!
how about you? What are your favorite
book trailers? I’d love to hear about it in the comments. And since I’ve now
hinted at mine, you get to see the finished version. Here is the book trailer
for Internet Famous. Enjoy!
