Meet the Author of NEVER ONCE, B.R. Myers!
What inspired you to write Never Once?
The idea came from another book I was writing in which the main character was working on an ad for a perfume campaign. The central theme of that novel was about love at first sight and the perfume ad was intended to bring that to light. The ad was a fairy tale retelling of Rapunzel, but instead of a princess being kept in a tower, it was a business man trapped in a high rise office building. After those characters found their happily ever after I started thinking about my next project. I guess the idea of a gender-swapped fairy tale stuck in the back of my head where it festered for a few months before I decided to put it on paper.
What is your favorite moment in the book?
Their first kiss, of course! But if I get to choose one more I'd say it's the "shoe fits" scene near the end. This was the scene that came fully realized to me before I even started writing Never Once.
If you could have one piece of advanced sci-fi technology, what would it be?
Electric slippers that heat up five minutes before you have to get out of bed in the morning.
Who would play your characters in a movie?
Princess Tianna – Tanaya Beatty
Princess Shania – Shanon Baker
Sinter – Alex Pettyfer
Queen Talia – Tinsel Korey
Advisor Winchell – Buffy Sainte-Marie (yes, the shaman is written as a man, but how could you deny me Buffy Sainte-Marie!)
What makes you swoon?
Men who read on public transit. Kindness to strangers. Nice table manners.
