Check Out the Final Cover for THE LAST WORD by Samantha Hastings!
"The Last Word — COVER." As I read this email subject from my editor, I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. I was both excited and completely terrified. What would my cover look like? Would it intrigue readers to pull it off the shelf? Would the cover accurately portray my story?
After raiding my pantry for cookies, I finally clicked on the email and I saw this beauty in my inbox:
This cover perfectly captures the feeling of my book—from the lace overlay to the dark tinting that hints at the Victorian time period (the story is set in London, 1861). I adore the swirling script and pinkish/purple tint of the title. The picture of a lovely and determined young woman beautifully portrays my main character, Miss Lucinda Leavitt.
Lucinda’s favorite author, Mrs. Smith, dies before finishing her serialized novel. Desperate to know the fate of her beloved heroine, Lucinda decides to track down the reclusive author’s family and final papers to discover how she would have finished the book. Lucinda enlists the assistance of her father’s much younger business partner, David Randall.
My story is full of banter, romance, and mystery; with both Lucinda and David determined to get the last word (*wink*).
Thank you, Katie Klimowicz, for creating this amazing cover!
