My Dear Swoon Readers,
Here's what we found in Season 7 submissions: originality, risk-taking, fun and variety. Go Writers! I am so excited and pleased to see the chances you are all taking. We are thrilled to announce four new authors and books to be published.
Congratulations and welcome to the Swoon Reads family.
Best,
Jean Feiwel
Here it is! Swoon Reads Season 7:
In this gothic novel, a ballet dancer is trapped at a private boarding school for girls by a mysterious benefactor.
Why we love it:
– A cute kitchen boy named CRICKET. What's not to love?!
– This was a twist on a couple of retellings that we hadn't seen before and sucked us in immediately. Great world-building!
Somebody That I Used to Know by Jennifer Honeybourn
In this quirky romance, a girl falls in love with the boy who ruined her life during a summer job at Tudor Tymes restaurant.
Why we love it:
– TUDOR. TYMES. What a setting!
– This story was just plain fun, and we loved the mix of serious and funny. Voice, voice, voice!
Prisoner of Glass by Chani L. Feener
An ordinary teenage girl has to impersonate an alien princess after being mistakenly kidnapped in this sci-fi romance.
Why we love it:
– Not one, but TWO sexy aliens!
– Chani has a gift for creating characters that we just love, and there was a heavy dose of action in this one, giving us some serious "Alien Throne of Glass" vibes.
The Big F by Maggie Ann Martin
A girl must figure out her own new path when her college acceptance letter is revoked due to a failing grade in this fun contemporary.
Why we love it:
– Sassy, leather-jacket-wearing bookstore boy (who reminds us of Jess from Gilmore Girls). Enough said.
– The concept drew us in and was incredibly relatable... It drew out our nostalgic side for when we were deciding what to do after high school. Decisions, decisions!
Congratulations Nikki, Jennifer, Chani and Maggie! And welcome to Swoon Reads!
