Announcing HOW TO KEEP ROLLING AFTER A FALL by Karole Cozzo!
Dear Swoon Readers and Writers:
Karole Cozzo is an inspiration. A school psychologist by day and a devoted mother of two at night, she’s also a dedicated writer who gets up at four in the morning to steal a few brief moments of writing time. And even with her demanding schedule, she was talented enough to have us all declaring our love for her debut novel How to Say I Love You Out Loud. And I’m happy to say that her second novel, the story of a former mean girl who is given a second chance for forgiveness by the hottest wheelchair rugby player around is EVEN BETTER and more heartwrenching than her first!
I’m excited to announce that we will be publishing How to Keep Rolling After a Fall on August 2, 2016.
We hope you love it as much as we do!
A note from Karole Cozzo:
Let’s be honest. Teenagers are terribly, wonderfully imperfect people. It’s one of the main reasons I enjoy writing about teenagers – the potential for growth, and the realizations, joys, and personal victories that accompany these growing pains. I adore writing honest characters… even if it’s not always pretty, and I’m incredibly grateful so many readers have embraced the authenticity of my characters that was so important to me in How to Say I Love You Out Loud.
I’m even more grateful to have the opportunity to take another honest look at the complicated dynamics of familial, friendship, and romantic relationships in my second novel from Swoon Reads, How to Keep Rolling After a Fall.
After a cyber bullying incident turns her life upside down, a handsome wheelchair rugby player shows a former mean girl that everyone deserves a second chance in this swoonworthy new novel from the author of How to Say I Love You Out Loud.
The party was at her house. The photos were posted to her Facebook account. That’s all the evidence anyone needed to condemn Nikki Baylor for a cyberbullying incident that humiliated a classmate and nearly resulted in the girl’s suicide. Now Nikki’s been expelled from her old school, her friends have abandoned her, and even her own parents can’t look her in the eye. With her plans for the future all but destroyed, Nikki resigns herself to being the girl everyone hates – almost as much as she hates herself. But then Nikki meets Pax, a spirited wheelchair rugby player who knows what it’s like when one mistake completely shatters your life. Refusing to judge her because of her past, he shows her that everyone deserves a second chance… and everyone deserves to be loved.
The psychologist in me is eager to share a story that examines the important topic of female friendships and how and why girls treat, or mistreat, others in the internet age. The mom in me is proud to share a story about a girl who discovers her own moral code, separate and apart from the influence of her friends, with a badass new bestie to help her navigate the course. And the author and YA enthusiast in me is simply champing at the bit to share this sweet and steamy romance, to introduce you all to Pax. Sigh. Pax. Honestly, I can’t wait. Until then, I look forward to involving the Swoon Reads community in the process of moving toward publication.
Working with the Swoon Reads team this past year has been an absolute dream. I’m thrilled and honored that I don’t have to wake up.
Come back on Tuesday to vote on cover directions for How to Keep Rolling After a Fall!
