Announcing GOING OFF SCRIPT by Jen Wilde!
Anyone familiar with my work knows how obsessed I am with fandom and celebrity. My first Swoon book, Queens of Geek, was all about fans and cosplay and nerds uniting. My second, The Brightsiders, explored fame and music and pride. But one of my biggest obsessions is television, so it’s only natural that my third Swoon book, Going Off Script, takes place on a hit television show.

When Bex lands her dream writing internship at her fave tv show, Silver Falls, she’s elated. She can’t wait to immerse herself in a fictional world filled with werewolves, romance and the supernatural—while learning everything can about the magic that goes on behind the scenes. But when the showrunner steals her script and rewrites Lyla, her groundbreaking lesbian character, into a straight damsel in distress, she’s heartbroken. Luckily, she has Zara—the queer actress cast to play Lyla—on her side. Refusing to let the show go on, together they launch a campaign to save queer Lyla, and fall in love along the way.
When the cover of Going Off Script popped up in my inbox, I literally gasped. It’s bright, it’s colorful, and I gotta say, seeing my name on a director’s chair is pretty damn cool. I cannot wait to see it shining brightly on shelves!
I had an absolute BLAST writing Bex and Zara’s story, and I can’t wait for you to meet them! And fans of Queens of Geek and The Brightsiders might recognize one or two of their squad, too *wink, wink*.
In a time when positive representation and fighting for what’s right is more important than ever, I hope seeing female characters band together to rewrite their own scripts inspires you to do the same.
