A Little Something Different Pub Day Celebrations
Yesterday was a big day for us at Swoon Reads — Publication Day for our very first book! — and we decided to celebrate the occasion by declaring yesterday A Little Something Different day.
First, we thought we would share the love. A group of volunteers showed up bright and early to take over the lobby of the Flatiron building and give away 100 copies of A Little Something Different to our fellow Macmillan employees as they walked into work.
There was music and smiles and even some impromptu dancing (Sadly it never evolved into a full on Swoonba session, so there’s no video, but a fun time was had by all).
Afterwards, we decided to take a field trip down to the nearest B&N to get a few shots of A Little Something Different in the wild…
And we handed out a few more copies to people who were lucky enough to be sitting outside the office…
Then, after work, we headed out to New Jersey for Sandy’s Launch Party. Sandy Hall, author extraordinare, is also a teen librarian at the beautiful Morristown Public Library, and they pulled out all the stops for a great pub day event.
There were flowers, balloons (including a very special one that said “I love you Lea and Gabe”), refreshments and beautiful book cookies.
And of course, stacks and stacks of books to be sold and signed!
After a few words from the new author and our own Jean Feiwel, Sandy moved straight into signing books for her lovely crowd of somewhere between 85 to 100 (after a while we lost count) friends, family, and brand new fans.
Although it was her first official book signing, Sandy was a pro (all that librarian experience helps!) and she knows how to throw a great event. If you’d like to meet Sandy yourself (and you really, really should, she’s awesome!), check out her September tour stops to see if she’ll be in a city near you!
