To All the Books I've Loved Before: 5 YA Reads to Fall for Next

There’s no denying that one of the newest books-turned-Netflix hits has stolen many hearts over the last few months. But after rereading all of the books and watching the movie at least five times, I’m sure many readers, like me, need something more than a sixth rewatch. It’s hard putting down a book boyfriend, but if you feel like there’s nothing out there for you after Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky, woah woah woah—here are some swoonworthy reads sure to heal your broken hearts.

Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann

ltal cover

This book will make you so. freaking. happy. Full of movie nights, yummy food, and late nights at a library, Alice and Takumi’s relationship makes me squee! Alice is a biromantic asexual college student who swore off dating after a bad breakup with her girlfriend, but then comes Takumi, who just about breaks her Cutie Code and things get so good.

Check out the full description below!

Alice had her whole summer planned. Non-stop all-you-can-eat buffets while marathoning her favorite TV shows (best friends totally included) with the smallest dash of adulting—working at the library to pay her share of the rent. The only thing missing from her perfect plan? Her girlfriend (who ended things when Alice confessed she's asexual). Alice is done with dating--no thank you, do not pass go, stick a fork in her, done.

But then Alice meets Takumi and she can’t stop thinking about him or the rom com-grade romance feels she did not ask for (uncertainty, butterflies, and swoons, oh my!).

When her blissful summer takes an unexpected turn, and Takumi becomes her knight with a shiny library employee badge (close enough), Alice has to decide if she’s willing to risk their friendship for a love that might not be reciprocated—or understood.

The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord

There’s nothing better than a really good high school love story, and Emery Lord delivers in this book. After Paige’s first boyfriend died, she completely shut down. But this year, she’s ready to take the world by storm. With Paige and Max, there’s tension, romance, some witty banter, and a deep connection that makes your heart melt with every page. And of course, there’s swimming, adventures, and everything else you could want in a feel-good love story.

But when Ryan’s sweet, nerdy cousin, Max, moves to town and recruits Paige for the Quiz Bowl team (of all things!) her perfect plan is thrown for a serious loop. Will Paige be able to face her fears and finally open herself up to the life she was meant to live?

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

when dimple cover

When Dimple Met Rishi is going to be my next read, as I try to recover from Peter Kavinsky! While I haven’t read it yet, I’ve heard only amazing things—that it’s awkward, funny, and of course, swoon-worthy!

Check out the full description below!

Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers… right?

Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.

The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not?

Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.
