5 YA Books I CAN'T WAIT to Read in 2017

We may be halfway done with 2017, but there are still TONS of amazing titles still coming out this year. Here are just a few of the things on my TBR!

genie lo coverThe Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F. C. Yee (Aug. 8)

I just got this ARC a few days ago (whoo! perks of working in publishing!) and I’ve already set aside a quiet evening to blow through this book in one sitting. Balancing school work while battling demons? This is Buffy the Vampire Slayer with a Chinese protagonist and I could not be more psyched about this book!

warbringer coverWonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo (Aug. 29)

just watched this movie and now I can’t get enough of all things Wonder Woman. If there’s anyone who can deliver feminist kick-butt action alongside characters with depth, all while supported by fabulous writing, it’s Leigh Bardugo.

the wood coverThe Wood by Chelsea Bobulski (Aug. 1)

I’m hooked by the cover alone. Because it came to Swoon's mother imprint, Feiwel and Friends, I’ve read into an early draft of this and debut author Chelsea Bobulski’s writing stole my breath from the first lines. The wood is dark, arresting and totally engrossing. I feel like I’m walking beside Winter as she’s on patrol, shadows chasing our footsteps as night begins to fall. I love love love books about teens who have to balance a supernatural calling with schoolwork. (Seeing a pattern here?)

renegades coverRenegades by Marissa Meyer (November)

Like EVERYONE ELSE in the YA community, this is top-of-the-list, lining-up-at-the-bookstore-on-pub-day, reading-all-through-the-night high on my TBR list!!! Superheroes are super in right now in pop culture, but what I love about Renegades is that it’s all totally original content. Marissa’s top-tier imagination at work creating yet another world I know I’ll dive into and never want to come out of!

WJRML coverWesley James Ruined My Life by Jennifer Honeybourn (July 18)

Ok, so TECHNICALLY, I’ve already read this because I had the distinct pleasure and privilege of reading Wesley James when it first came in for Swoon Reads (hashtag-perks-of-publishing, hashtag-love-my-job) and I gotta say, I was totally captivated by the voice, the humor, the banter. This is not just an excellent summer read, but a book about characters I’d actually want to spend time with year-round. I can’t wait until I can hold a physical copy in my hands.

What about y’all, Swoon readers? I’d really love to read a quality book that you’re excited about reading, or even have already read! So tell me, what's on your TBR for the rest of the year?
