I'm a journalist -- so my fiction will always have an edge of reality. But I'm also a romantic, so no matter how gritty my plot gets, love plays a central role. As does humour. Adventure, love and laughs and glimpses into the abyss, that just about sums up my writing. I hope you enjoy it.
Too many to list. Off the top of my head ... "Sense and Sensibility". I loved the way Jane Austin contrasted the two types of love. "We Need To Talk About Kevin", which questions all aspects of love: the supposedly unconditional love of a mother and how circumstances can rupture romantic love.
"I am Heathcliff". Simone de Beauvoir said: "This is the cry of every woman in love".
