Bio

A quiet girl from the Midwest, she headed East for college and never looked back... except when she went home for Christmas and the like.

Growing up I was obsessed with my book collection (Baby-sitters Club, Sweet Valley High etc) and a pretty standard over-achiever in high school (nerd? probably). And somehow after college managed to turn my love of books into an actual career. I still can't quite believe it's real.

Favorite Books

The Time Traveler's Wife, Finnikin of the Rock (and the entire Melina Marchetta library), Fangirl, The Sky is Everywhere

Let’s Talk About Sex, Baby: Part Deux

It’s sort of the foil to my teen romance binging, I love a good non-fiction book about why we are the way we are and the science behind it. And last week ... Read More

That Time I Met Rainbow Rowell and My Brain Melted A Little

So a few weeks ago, I ended up in the same room as Rainbow Rowell, actually twice in as many days. As you might have gathered from my last post, I am a pretty huge Rainbow Rowell fan. Fangirl ranks in my current Top 5 YA novels — no doubt. Eleanor and Park is not far behind. I’ve tweeted to ... Read More

The Great (Rainbow) Debate

At the end of February in 2013 a little YA novel hit stores. You might have heard of it: Eleanor and Park. Shortly thereafter, that September, another YA novel, Fangirl, came into the world. Both of these books have been considered mega-successes in the last two years and Rainbow Rowell has become a superstar author in the world. Publishers around ... Read More

From the Files of a Teenage Writer

Hello Swoon Readers, Happy March! A few weeks ago, a bunch of us Swoon Staffers were chatting after work (as we do periodically over cupcakes and cocoa) about our middle school and high school diaries. From there I confessed that not only did I used to keep a diary, but I also started writing fanfiction with my best friend. You ... Read More
